Welcome

Response to this year’s Awards has been overwhelming.  Once again the quality and diversity of this year’s entrants have impressed the judges.

These regional Awards which recognise and celebrate the efforts and achievements of the Sunshine Coast business community were first introduced by the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce 15 years ago and, each year, continue to strengthen and prosper.

In a fitting tribute to the 2009 Awards program, over 600 guests including the region’s business, community and government leaders will gather to celebrate the diversity, innovation and strengths of Sunshine Coast business at an exciting and very different gala presentation evening at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort.

This year’s awards presentation will be hosted by one of Australia’s most experienced stand up comics and comedy actor, Peter Rowsthorn. Well known for his TV work, most recently as Kim's estranged husband in Seven’s Kath and Kim, Peter is also a masterful MC of corporate and private functions.  Peter will be joined on stage by one of our favorite local media personalities, Sami Muirhead, from HOT 91’s breakfast trio.

Short Courses

HR Skills Fundamentals Short Course
Small to medium sized businesses which currently have no central Human Resources function will vastly benefit from these practical and dynamic workshops covering a review of key Human Resource functions; Recruiting, Selecting and Inducting Staff; Industrial Relations Procedures and Performance Management Processes.
The HR Skills Fundamentals Short Course consists of 4 one-day workshops which are spread over 9 weeks and commences 6 October 2009 at the Mooloolaba Campus.

Certificate IV in Frontline Management
An organisation consists of a group of people whose aim it is to achieve the goals of that organisation, while at the same time realizing their own personal goals.  Managers must therefore plan and complete not only their own work but also the work of the team they manage. Thus, it’s no secret that effective relationships and good communication go hand in hand with gaining peak performance and goal achievement from staff and management alike. The “Effective Performance for Peak Productivity” short course teaches and trains managers to achieve these desired goals in the next of our one-day workshops on the 11th September.

 Workshop 2:  9 October 2009

  • Coordinate implementation of customer service strategies
  • Implement continuous improvement

 Workshop 3:  30 October 2009

  • Manage projects
  • Monitor a safe workplace
  • Identify risk and apply risk management processes

These courses have been designed in response to industry demand and are anticipated to fill quickly. To ensure your place and enrol today, phone 5459 3000 or email sct.information@deta.qld.gov.au now.
