The Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce is firmly committed to championing the Maroochydore CBD and views with concern any postponement by government to the commencement of work within the precinct.

President's Message
In late 2010, the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce carried out a member survey and, over the past number of years, we have been involved with a range of comprehensive consultative processes with the business community, all levels of government and key stakeholders in relation to the planning and revitalisation of Maroochydore and its transformation into the CBD of the Sunshine Coast region. The Chamber has been an enduring and active contributor in all processes and is acutely aware of the complexities in securing a sustainable and viable future for Maroochydore.
Currently, Maroochydore Commercial office vacancy levels are very low and potentially unsustainable at 5%. Of greater concern is the prediction that Maroochydore’s commercial floor space demand will outstrip stock availability by 2014. The Chamber is encouraged by council’s proactive approach to delivering a commercial investment strategy. As selection of the consultants is nearing completion, we are buoyed by the terms of reference to investigate commercial issues that need to be considered and opportunities that should be pursued to attract sustainable investment in new and existing businesses and commercial operations in the CBD.
Quite simply, our region must secure diversity of revenue streams to be more robust and to deliver jobs to our community.
As always, our Chamber’s heart truly is within Maroochydore, but our vision is for the broader Sunshine Coast region.
